Story Behind The Wheelgun Line

It was only a matter of time before hunters took interest in handguns and started placing them side by side with rifles. After all, carrying a heavy rifle through the woods isn’t always necessary, especially when most of the shots taken are usually short- to medium-range.

This is precisely what drove Brazilian manufacturer Taurus into creating the Raging Hunter: a line of wheel guns minus the weight but still packs a punch perfect for hunting big game.

Initially only offering in .44 Magnum, the optic-ready Ranging Hunter lines quickly expanded to include more big-bore revolvers in the likes of the Raging Hunter .357 Magnum and the Raging Hunter .454 Casull.

Successfully gaining popularity among big game hunters, Taurus was even awarded the 2019 American Hunter Handgun of the Year granted by the Golden Bullseye Award for innovative design, reliability, and value.

Features of the Taurus Raging Hunter .357 Magnum

1. Optimized for Light Recoil

This model is more on the lighter side compared to other traditional guns of its size and has a ported barrel which, like the weight of this model, helps tame felt recoil.

2. Compatible with Optics

Another great thing about this model is how it has a Picatinny rail up front that allows you to put optics on it. You can choose between including a red dot or a scope so you can reach further distances when you shoot.

3. Designed with Comfort in Mind

If you take a closer look at this Raging Hunter, you will see how the entire component is molded from soft-touch rubber with added cushioning on the backstrap. Such makeup ensures maximum comfort during hunting so that hunters can focus on the hunt itself. This also helps with recoil.

4. Great Accuracy

The impeccable design this model has includes a lock both at the front and at the rear end of the cylinder. This improves the alignment of the bore to the chamber and increases accuracy when shooting.

5. Prioritized Safety

A feature that often goes unnoticeable, the Raging Hunter has a transfer bar that ensures your magnum revolver is dropped safe. And as standard practice, this also comes in with a factory-supplied locking device to keep your gun secured when not in use.

Of course, preference is what wins the game when it comes to choosing the best weapon to use during your hunts. For some hunters, they would prefer the Taurus Raging Hunter .44 Magnum over the Taurus Raging Hunter .357 Magnum any day.

Others would only choose the latter for its compatibility with the 38 Special. Regardless, Taurus Raging Hunter .357 Magnum is an exceptional revolver on its own and gives justice to the Raging Hunter line it’s part of.
