History And Evolution Of The AR 15 Sporting Rifle

Modern sporting rifles or hunting rifles in general are powerful rifles tweaked to match what is legal to own for an ordinary civilian. Used in hunting or shooting sports, these mighty rifles also have their counterpart as military service rifle. One of the main differences though, is their ability to shoot multiple rounds in one pull of the trigger. Take a look at the classics of sporting rifles with National Shooting Sports Foundation | NSSF!

What we now identify as a classic hunting rifle was originally patterned after the M1903 Springfield Rifle that has a bolt action which first saw action during the World War I. It was then later replaced by the M1 Garand used during World War II.

The AR 15 which was developed by ArmaLite small arms engineering company has its military service rifle counter part the M16. The latter is a fully automatic assault rifle that can fire 700 to 950 rounds per minute at most and has been adopted by the US Military as their official service rifle.

The AR 15’s semi-automatic action reduces recoil enabling the shooter to do a follow-up shot almost instantly! Consequently, it has been a popular choice for shooting sports and even hunting from small beavers to big elk game.

Its compact design makes it easy to carry outdoors and can withstand rugged conditions and the harsh hunting environment. The AR 15 to this day, has been developed and incorporated with multiple hunt-specific features chambered in most hunting calibers. The once classic meets with technology and innovation creating the ultimate modern sporting rifle.
